The new Ubisoft free-to-play FPS
Update: It looks like the Xbox version of XDefiant should be working as intended shortly:
UPDATE: The Xbox patch is approved and rolling out now. It may take some time before you see the patch but we’ve confirmed that it is up and running!— Mark Rubin (@PixelsofMark) April 17, 2023
Original story: Ubisoft has been having a busy few days with the XDefiant Beta on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 and PC, and the good news is that players seem to be really enjoying it so far – at least when the servers are working!
In fact, one of the terms that keeps getting thrown around is “COD killer”, and while some people really don’t like that phrase, there are undoubtedly a lot of comparisons being thrown around between XDefiant and Call of Duty:
Initial XDefiant Impressions
+ Fast “Old COD” style gameplay
+ 14 6v6 maps with good design
+ Vibrant/fun graphics
+ Many guns are viable
+ Red dots on map
+ AMAZING TTK
– Netcode needs work
– Healing class is OP
– Movement is good but could be smoother

This is just brutal.

depends if anti cheat and good a competitive mode + skill gap. in all reality it comes down to listening to the community if changes need to be made and constantly making weekly to biweekly updates. anything is possible 🤷🏻♀️— FaZe Kalei (@KaleiRenay) April 14, 2023
If you’re wondering how to get access to the XDefiant Beta on Xbox to try it for yourself, we’ve provided a guide about this elsewhere on Pure Xbox – just keep in mind that you may struggle to find a usable code right now. Nevertheless, the latest closed beta doesn’t end until this Sunday (April 23rd), so there’s plenty of time left to join the action.
The one thing you’ll need to keep in mind, at least for the time being, is that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of xDefiant have been suffering major server issues. Basically, the servers have been disabled for much of the weekend, and the hope is that a patch will be pushed out early this week to rectify this:
Just FYI, we’re hoping to hear back from MS tomorrow about the Xbox patch. We’ll see, fingers crossed.— Mark Rubin (@PixelsofMark) April 17, 2023
Here’s hoping XDefiant’s latest beta will have a smoother ride over the next few days, and then we can all join the fun and see what the hype is about! It sounds like Ubisoft could be onto a winner with this one.
